It is an important part of practice for Coaches, Therapist, Practitioners, Outreach Workers, etc. to get regular Professional Supervision. When working with clients with emotional and psychological needs it is crucial that the person providing support and guidance maintain their own emotional and psychological well-being as well as best working practice.
Supervision provides a way of supporting and monitoring best working practice by enabling the supervisee to reflect and discuss cases and practice with another professional, providing a forum to establish strategies and actions.
I use the Kolb Cycle in supervision to ensure all aspects of practice are considered, from feelings, experience, actions through to outcomes. For best practice this should be at regular intervals and ongoing for constant and consistent personal and professional support.
